A KSRTC bus driver was allegedly beaten up by four youths in Panthalacode, near Vattapara, here on Sunday. Rajan, a driver attached to the Nedumangad depot was the victim. The incident happened just a day after a KSRTC driver lost his life in Aluva after he was attacked by two bike-riders. The Vattappara police have arrested two youths in connection with the incident.

They were identified as Nandu, 19, and Vishnu Shankar, 20, both residing in Pothencode. The police said that the incident happened around 7.30 pm on Sunday. Rajan was on the wheels of a bus which plied between Nedumangad and Pothencode. The youths, who came on two motorbikes, clad in black dresses, intercepted the bus in Panthalacode and attacked Rajan after pulling him out of the bus. The gang fled the scene immediately and the conductor of the bus sought police help over phone. Rajan has been admitted to Nedumangad Taluk Hospital.

The accused landed in police custody when they went to the hospital to enquire on Rajan. Though they came secretly, the conductor identified them and blocked them with the help of bystanders at the hospital. The police later took them into custody.
