കൊച്ചി: ഡ്രൈവര് ഉറക്കം തൂങ്ങിയതിനെത്തുടര്ന്ന് കെ.എസ്.ആര്.ടി.സി സൂപ്പര് ഡീലക്സ് ബസ് ഇടയ്ക്ക് സര്വീസ് അവസാനിപ്പിച്ചു. ക്ഷുഭിതരായ യാത്രക്കാരെ മറ്റ് ബസുകളില് കയറ്റിവിട്ട് അധികൃതര് പ്രശ്നം പരിഹരിച്ചു.
കോഴിക്കോട്ടു നിന്ന് തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തേക്ക് വരികയായിരുന്ന ആര്.ആര്.സി- 965 സൂപ്പര് ഡീലക്സ് എയര് ബസിന്റെ ഡ്രൈവറാണ് ഓടിക്കുന്നതിനിടെ ഉറങ്ങിപ്പോയത്. ഇന്നലെ പുലര്ച്ചെ രണ്ടു മണിയോടെയാണ് സംഭവങ്ങളുടെ തുടക്കം. ആലപ്പുഴ വിട്ട് യാത്ര തുടര്ന്ന ബസ് ഇരു വശത്തേക്കും പാളുന്നത് ശ്രദ്ധിച്ച കണ്ടക്ടര്ക്ക് ഡ്രൈവര് ഉറക്കം തൂങ്ങുകയാണെന്ന് മനസിലായി. കായംകുളം സ്റ്റാന്ഡിലെത്തിയപ്പോള് ഡ്രൈവര്ക്ക് കണ്ടക്ടര് ചൂടുചായ വാങ്ങി നല്കി. തണുത്ത വെള്ളമുപയോഗിച്ച് മുഖം കഴുകി. സീറ്റില് കയറിയ ഡ്രൈവര് ചവറ കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് വീണ്ടും ഉറക്കമായി.
40 യാത്രക്കാരാണ് ബസിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നത്. മിക്കവരും ഉറക്കത്തിലായിരുന്നു. ഡ്രൈവര് ഉറങ്ങുന്നതും കണ്ടക്ടര് വിളിച്ചുണര്ത്തുന്നതും മുന് സീറ്റിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന ചില യാത്രക്കാര് മാത്രമാണ് ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചത്. ചവറ പിന്നിട്ട ബസ് വീണ്ടും നിയന്ത്രണമില്ലാതെ റോഡിന്റെ ഇരുവശങ്ങളിലേക്കും തെന്നി നീങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. എതിരേ വന്ന വാഹനങ്ങള് വെട്ടിച്ച് മാറ്റിയതിനാല് അപകടമുണ്ടായില്ല. കൊല്ലം സ്റ്റാന്ഡിലെത്തിയതോടെ യാത്രക്കാര് ക്ഷുഭിതരായി. ഡ്രൈവറെ മാറ്റിയശേഷമേ വണ്ടി എടുക്കാന് അനുവദിക്കൂ എന്ന നിലപാടിലായി അവര്. സ്റ്റാന്ഡില് ഡ്യൂട്ടിയിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനും ഇടപെട്ടു.
മുഖം കഴുകിയെത്തിയ ഡ്രൈവര് വീണ്ടും ഓടിക്കാന് തയ്യാറാണെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞെങ്കിലും യാത്രക്കാര് സമ്മതിച്ചില്ല. ഡ്രൈവറെ മാറ്റുകയോ തങ്ങളെ മറ്റു ബസുകളില് കയറ്റി വിടുകയോ വേണമെന്ന് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. ഡ്രൈവറെ ജീവനക്കാരുടെ വിശ്രമമുറിയിലേക്ക് ഉറങ്ങാന് പറഞ്ഞയച്ചശേഷം യാത്രക്കാരെ എക്സ്പ്രസ് ബസിലും ലിമിറ്റഡ് സ്റ്റോപ്പ് ഫാസ്റ്റ് പാസഞ്ചറിലുമായി കയറ്റിവിട്ടു.തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് നിന്ന് കോഴിക്കോട്ട് എത്തിയശേഷം മതിയായ വിശ്രമമില്ലാതെ തിരിച്ചു പുറപ്പെട്ടതിനാലാണ് ഡ്രൈവര്ക്ക് ക്ഷീണം അനുഭവപ്പെട്ടതെന്ന് അധികൃതര് പറഞ്ഞു.
രണ്ടും മൂന്നും ഡ്യൂട്ടി ഒന്നിച്ച്കൊച്ചി:ഡ്രൈവര്മാരുടെ കുറവുകാരണം അവര്ക്ക് രണ്ടും മൂന്നും ഡ്യൂട്ടി ഒന്നിച്ചു ചെയ്യേണ്ടിവരുന്നു. എന്നാല് കൂടുതല് ഡ്യൂട്ടിക്ക് ഒരു ഡ്രൈവറെയും നിര്ബന്ധിക്കരുതെന്ന് നിര്ദ്ദേശമുണ്ട്. കൂടുതല് ഡ്യൂട്ടിക്ക് സജ്ജരായവരെ മാത്രമാണ് ഒന്നില് കൂടുതല് ഡ്യൂട്ടി ചെയ്യിക്കുന്നത്. ഇന്നലത്തേത് ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ട സംഭവമാണ്. പി.എസ്. സി വഴി കൂടുതല് ഡ്രൈവര്മാരെ നിയമിച്ചു തുടങ്ങിയ സാഹചര്യത്തില് ഈ പ്രശ്നം ഉടനേ പരിഹരിക്കപ്പെടും.

the driver of this schedule gets only 4 hours rest at KKD..!!!!
If it the TVM – KKD Deluxe, it reached KKD before 5:00 AM and starts back only by 7:30 PM or so… Then how come only 4 hrs of rest?

KSRTC cares litttle for passengers.
I along with other passengers virtually stopped a FP bus few months ago at KKD bus stand at midnight.I don’t remember whether it was Adoor or Pala bus.
I did not board the bus as there were no seats.The driver while reversing the bus,hit a TNSTC bus (KKD- Ooty) parked there.
I was standing near the TNSTC bus.When the people questioned the driver he blamed the conductor for not ringing the bell properly.The front grill and bumper of TNSTC bus was damaged.Argument broke out between TN staff and our staff.Finally KSRTC mechanics and welders came and repaired the damage.
Then again the bus hit another KSRTC bus entering the stand.
Few of us then went to the spot and asked the driver to get down as he was found to be drunk..
He was taken to the SM who did not heed to public.He was not ready to agree that the driver was drunk.We argued that the bus cannot be sent at 1am trusting this driver.
The public alerted the Police on duty and finally he was taken to a hospital.The bus then left 1 hour late after geting another driver.
Last year ASIANET conducted a survey regarding this matter.depicting TVM-Vazhikadavu SFP…Many top figures commented on it.There were crue change system in KSRTC till 90′s ..Many long services frm KKD.PGT(PLKD),KNR towards TVM through M.C. road used to changed crue @Chengannur & through NH changed @ALP,KYLM .This was recalled by then Minister and top union leaders in that debate.Its intersting fact that that minister itself abandoned that system on the name of steering hoursin 90s!!!!!!!!This single step of re establishement of this system could save lot of lives and property from large number of mis haps on our roads!There need someone have vision & insight on its top!
KSRTC’s rules for Driver Change is needed or not – has to be revised.
I guess it is based on Kilometers only.
MDY and SBY depots’ TVM buses have a driver change at TSR. But KPA – TVM buses do not have! KNR – TVM Buses also do not have.
On 08-04-2011, I traveled from Trichy to Trivandrum in SETC bus. The bus was started from Bangalore and driven by a single driver upto Trivandrum.
I did not find any thing wrong with the driver, then why KSRTC drivers behaves like this??
സദാനന്ദന് സാറ് പറയുന്നത് മര്യാടകേടാണ്, തമിഴന് ” ശേഷി” കൂട്ടുതല് ഉണ്ടെന്നു സ്ഥാപിക്കാന് ആയിരിക്കും ശ്രമം. !!
ലോകത്തുള്ള എല്ലാ മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും ഉറക്കം വരും . തമിഴനും വരും.
മനുഷ്യനായി പിറന്ന എല്ലാവരും അത് അംഗീകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും, ചെയ്യണം.
ഒരു കുറവായി കണക്കാക്കാതെ,ഉറക്കം വരുമ്പോള് വാഹനം ഓടിക്കുന്നതില് നിന്ന്, എല്ലാ ഡ്രൈവര് മാരും സ്വയം പിന്തിരിയണം. അത് സ്വന്തം വാഹനം ആയാലും അല്ലെങ്ങിലും.
08/04-2011 ല് ഒരു തമിഴന് ഉറക്കം വന്നില്ല, പോലും. എന്തൊരു തമാശ.
There is a Daily Schedule from EKM depot to Thiruppur via PLKD, Coimbatore (starting at 1345). The bus is reaching Thiruppur by around 0100 next day. Same bus has to return to EKM by 0130. Same driver. Is this justifiable ? This bus is like Hot cake for KSRTC. Earning Good collection, but the driver suffers.
Fact is, this bus passes TSR at around 3:45… Should leave PLKD by 5:30, CBE by 7:30 and should comfortably reach Thiruppur by 9 or 9:30. How come, 1:00 AM in the morning, in your post?
@Jyotish : Yes, The timing was given wrong. It reaches Thiruppur by 09.30 PM and returns at 10 PM. It reaches EKM by 0400 next day. Sorry for the mistake
