The dawn-to-dusk hartal called by the CPI(M) to protest the arrest of its Kannur district secretary and State committee member, P. Jayarajan was marred by violent incidents in the state.
The hartal which was total, saw a KSRTC Super Delux air bus coming from Bangalore being stoned at 5.30 a.m., even before the scheduled beginning of the hartal, in the town. The driver Rajesh John was injured in the stoning. KSRTC bus services were later suspended in the district.
The bus, RRC 966 Of Thiruvalla depot has attacked while going towards Alappuzha KSRTC Bus Station at 5.30 Am. I was a passenger on that bus from Bangalore to Thiruvalla and after the incident, we got stuck in Alappuzha bus station till evening.
Meanwhile, A KSRTC SUper Express Air Bus heading to Kottayam from Bangalore was also attacked by hartal activists near Ettumanur, Kottayam.
Isolated incidents of stones being pelted at vehicles, causing minor injuries to a few people, were reported from various parts of the state. Hartal supports here, pelted stones at KSRTC buses at various places.
