Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has started ruling the inter state services to and from Kerala. KSRTC, the most preferred inter state operator in the country is introducing two more premium luxury services to Kerala. While the Kerala RTC is trying to degrade all the premium services to Super Fast and Super Express buses.
This time, they are introducing an AC Sleeper (Corona) bus from Bangalore to Ernakulam and an Airavat Volvo bus from Bangalore to Kannur. At the same time, our corporation is struggling to run the present Volvo and AC buses towards Bangalore.
Most of the time, Kerala RTC is operating Super Fast/Super Express buses from Kottayam and Thrissur by cancelling the AC Air bus because of regular mechanical problems. It’s a time to replace the present fleet of AC Air buses held with Kerala RTC to Volvo buses or some other premium luxury vehicles. According to an official of Kerala RTC, “We are planning to replace all the AC Globus buses with the brand new 12m TATA Express buses”. People are not interested to travel in premium services like AC and Deluxe, so we prefer to run those express buses, which give more EPKM (Earning per kilo meter) to the corporation”.
At the same time, Karnataka RTC is operating Rajahamsa (Deluxe), Airavat (Volvo) services to the major towns in Kerala. Most of the days, these buses are running fully occupied and they do run some special services on weekends and holiday seasons.
The newly introduced services are
1) Bangalore-Ernakulam (Ac Sleeper Corona)
Departure from Bangalore: 20.30
Arrival At Ernakulam: 06.45
Via: Hosur, Salem, Palakkad, Thrissur
Fare: Adult: 773, Child: 580
Departure From Ernakulam: 19.15
Arrival At Bangalore: 05.30
Via: Thrissur, Palakkad, Salem, Hosur
Fare: Adult: 773, Child: 580
2) Bangalore-Kannur (Airavat Volvo)
Departure From Bangalore: 21.30
Arrival At Kannur: 06.15
Via: Mysore, Virajpet, Thalassery
Fare: Adult: 527, Child: 395
Departure From Kannur: 22.30
Arrival At Bangalore: 07.15
Via: Thalassery, Virajpet, Mysore
Fare: Adult: 527, Child: 395
At present, Kerala RTC is operating 3 buses from Bangalore to Ernakulam while Karnataka RTC is operating 8 schedules, which includes 3 Rajahamsa deluxe buses, One Corona AC Sleeper Bus, One Airavat Multi Axle Club Class Semi sleeper bus and 3 Airavat Volvo buses.

Hi Bhaktan/Shankar,
Do KaSRTC have enough permits for starting new service to Kerala as per agreement ?
Yes, they do have enough permit to run in Kerala as well as TN.
Let me tell u one thing, Kerala RTC is operating 4 services to Kannur, Karnataka also operating the same.
But Karnataka rtc is not operating buses to Kottarakkara, Thiruvalla, Pala, Guruvayoor, Malappuram etc. So they have enough kms in Kerala, so they are using it for running buses to Ernakulam.
Karnataka RTC is operating 3 Volvo, one multi axle, one corona and 3 Rajahamsa buses to ekm.
Kasrtc run Mallpuram-Virajpet and Guruvayur-Mysore-MAndya Service both are karnataka sarige via Gudallur, Nilambur route
I was talking about the buses operating from Bangalore. Coming to Mysore, Kerala RTC and Karnataka RTC is operating an other set of buses.
a change in goverment and of course a change in the transport minsiter. Who will it be?? Will it be good or bad for KSRTC
Let us wait and see, hope for the best…!
KeSRTC shiuld introduce TATA hispano service in the inter-state, and give some competition to KaSRTC.
hope the new minister will help the bangalore passengerss…as he is a forward mind guy…he defenitly will not degrade premium services to super fast..
People are not interested to travel in premium services like AC and Deluxe, so we prefer to run those express buses,
what nonsense this ksrtc official is telling… people are not travelling in ac buses becasue its not an ac bus… its a fridge or cold storage… if they maintain their buses well people will travel.. see how rajahamsa is running..peoples first choice is train, then private, then kasrtc then finaly our ksrtc
True, KSRTC is indeed degrading the “Super Deluxe” and “AC” buses with Super Express and super fast. And guess what , the quality of travel is good in these 2 compared to the above 2 crap boxes.
And how the hell can KSRTC expect to compete with the private and KaRTC with these junk….. KSRTC can never hope to buy Corona or multi axle.
Lets all pine our hopes on the new minister and if he is dynamic enough like Ganesh Kumar KSRTC may soon see revival …
My option from whenever I travel from Bangalore to Trichur is Airavat>Shama>Rajahamsa>Kallada> Train > Cannot go home and >>>>>>>> KeSRTC (emergency only)
over TATA A/C buses are some time use the morchery cool and hispano wait road to match SRM volvos…hi hi…
A good news for everyone, KSRTC to sell all its TATA Globus AC buses and to give a proposal to upgrade those services to Volvo. They also have plans to introduce new super deluxe air buses in interstate routes.
From a reliable source.
it should be done ,they should keep some spare buses for emegency.all deluxe to be made AC AND body to build in good companies like prakash or veera so that atleast it looks good good for 3 years.
today May 16th i have seen one Kerala AC bus stopped near Mysore and passengers and conductors waiting outside for kerala bus. All where boarded to TSR-Bangalore Super DLX later.
Better than AC bus, KSRTC SF bus is very good. Today came by Pala bangalore. Late by 30 minutes but overall it looks good than an AC bus after spening more money
@sujith,
have heard many proposals like this from KeSRTC, nothing will come out.. only proposals…..
I Agree with Bilal, heard a lot of such VOLVO prposals from KSRTC
keralartc must not be stupid. they must take measures to improve themselves. if they don’t take any measures to improve the situation, the kesrtc will be a big loser
I travelled by the new corona. The bus was nice, well kept , and comfortable. But the thing is that they took 13 hrs all the way that means 3 hrs late ! !
The driver was a lazy fellow, allowing even small trucks and other slow vehicles to overtake. This is really a bad mark of KaSRTC.
13 hours is too much, Our Super Deluxe bus will reach EKM by 11 hours.
I agree to that…Kar KSRTC drivers are not at all experts when comes to interstate buses or they are lazy….Our drivers are the best to keep up the timings.
KeSRTC drivers are also experts to get into accidents, KaSRTC has strict fuel efficiency policy and if they don’t achieve they will loose their incentives. for ex: AL/TM has to get 5.3 KMPL and Volvo/MB – 3KMPL also FYI KaSRTC has interstate buses to KL, TN, AP, GA, MH, PY and they drive some of the most longest routes like BLR/MNG/MYS-MUM/Shirdi and lot more
Is there a change in timing for the ksrtc corona ac sleeper bangalore to ernakulam timing??
coming new service in vadakara virajpetta
oh i had enough of travelling with the so called super ksrtc bus.It was a nightmare travelling from salem to kozhikode.then from kollm to ernakulam then to kannur.well my whole body was ‘overhauled’ and i’m still havent come out of the nightmare travelling on theSUPER FAST ,KSRTC..I WILL BE TRAVELLING ON .THE 4TH OF SEPT FROM KANNUR TO SALEM CAN ANYONE SUGGEST A TOURIST’S FRIENDLT BUS OTHER THEN LSRTC, PLEASE CAN ANY ONE SUGGEST ANY OTHER AIR BUSES.
