The operations of KSRTC services in the state were affected on Monday owing to fuel shortage. With fuel shortage, the authorities asked the employees to fill fuel from the IOC pumps outside.

According to sources, a couple of services from Thiruvananthapuram were reportedly affected. ‘’Two services to Nagercoil were cancelled. Another service to Ernakulam got delayed and hence, the return service was cancelled. A service to Vazhikadavu in Thiruvananthapuram got delayed by almost three hours. Apart from these, no major services were affected,’’ sources in the State Transport Corporation pointed out.

Meanwhile, KSRTC managing director Antony Chacko said that the fuel shortage was due to technical glitches in the Indian Oil Corporation.

‘’There were certain technical issues in connection with diesel supply from IOC. The fuel shortage has got nothing to do with the KSRTC. Instructions were given to fill fuel from outside pumps so that passengers would not be affected. However, there were no major service cancellations due to diesel shortage,’’ he said.
