Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation aims to increase its daily collection to Rs 7 crore by January next year, according to Transport Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan.
The corporation is striving to make maximum number of buses ply and to ensure that trips are not cancelled.
To deal with day to day issues like flash stirs, depot-level committees will be formed. Incentives will be provided to staff who manage to boost collection.
Measures are being taken to reschedule services which are incurring losses, he said. Of the 1,550 such services, 1,100 have been rescheduled, which resulted in an increase in collection.
The revenue from a bus has increased from 970 rupees to 1,140 rupees. Revenue from a kilometre of journey has also increased from Rs29.92 to Rs35.41.
In January, including the Sabarimala services 4,850 buses of the corporation were plying, which has increased to more than 5,000 now.
The minister said when he took over as Transport Minister, the daily collection was Rs 4.7 crore, which increased to Rs6 crore last month.
