The dawn-to-dusk hartal called by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was by and large peaceful in Ernakulam Distrct.
KSRTC operated a few city services with the convoy of police, in the morning while the long route services coming from outside the district passed through the KSRTC bus stand. According to P Sasidharan, Chief Traffic Officer, KSRTC Ernakulam, 19 schedules were operated from Ernakulam depot. 25 schedules were operated by Angamali depot while 21 schedules were operated from Piravom and Perumbavoor depots. Police operated parallel bus services from South Railway Station to KSRTC bus stand, High Court and other major destinations in order to pick up and drop commuters stranded owing to the hartal.
