Thiruvananthapuram: With 14 buses in the yard permanently and shortage of man power unaddressed, the City Depot of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation is struggling to operate its services fully. The depot which used to operate more than hundred buses on an average day, now operates around 85 services only.

On some days, shortage of buses is so severe that even schedules which earn good revenue to the depot have to be cancelled, say sources. Chain service to Beemapally, Poonthura and Veli and daily bus service to Kovalam and Vettucaud are the worst hit if the pattern of services for the past two months are examined.

The shortage of buses had also affected the revenue target of the depot, which is Rs 11 lakh per month. Currently the depot earns a revenue less than Rs 9,50,000 per month, which had crossed Rs 11 lakh in the previous year.
