The KSRTC has announced a discount  in fares at the rate of 15 per cent in the Bengaluru-bound return journeys by the multi-axle Volvo buses from its depots in Thiruvananthapruam, Kottayam and Ernakulam.

Newer models of KSRTC buses are coming at a very slow pace. There is also a danger that the Corporation could close down and sold off to private companies.

The discount will be available on the days decided by the KSRTC, starting September 10. The fare for the travel by the Thiruvananthapuram-Bengaluru (via Salem) bus will be slashed to Rs 1,080 from Rs 1,270. Those boarding buses from other centres also will get the same rate of discount in fares. The Thiruvananthapuram-Bengaluru (via Mysore) bus fare will be Rs 969, instead of the current Rs 1,140.

The facility can be availed of by booking online. The rates have been slashed   following the government’s approval to introduce the flexi rate.
