Venjarammoodu: A group of passengers arguing over the ticket price in an AC low-floor bus run by the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation forced the conductor to divert the bus to a police station.
The drama started when a seven-member family got into the bus at Kottayam and asked for tickets to Thiruvananthapuram. They were in for a shock when the conductor gave them the tickets worth almost Rs 2,000 in total.
They protested the high rate and asked the conductor to let them get out of the bus. By the time the bus reached Changanassery, the seven passengers were asking the conductor to let them leave after charging for the journey so far.
The conductor, however, said he could not get back the tickets once issued. The family kept on arguing even though the fellow passengers tried to convince them.
The conductor finally led the bus to the Venjarammoodu police station, where both parties presented their case before the police officers.
Venjarammoodu circle inspector V.S. Pradeep Kumar and sub inspector Riyas Raja talked to the agitated passengers for half an hour and finally convinced them that there was no way the conductor can give them a refund.
The bus then resumed its journey to Thiruvananthapuram.
The family from Payyannur was on a pilgrimage to different destinations in Thiruvananthapuram, the police said.
