A Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus from Cuddalore to Trichy went up in flames near Chathiram Bus Stand on Saturday evening. No one was injured in the incident.

The fire broke out around 7.15 pm on the rear side of the bus, merely 10 minutes after it reached Trichy with around 40 passengers. The vehicle was parked on the roadside outside the stand, the usual place for stationing outstation buses.

All the passengers had alighted and the driver Poorasamy, 56, from Cuddalore and conductor Sathish, 28, from Thuraiyur in Trichy had gone into the office to record their trip.
